My Regime for my curls.
So everyone has different regimes but this is what works for me.
The products...
Step 1: Starts in the night. I separate my hair and grease my scalp, with either shea butter or olive oil. I alternate between different days although I prefer Olive oil. Tip: dont over use these products they contain petrolatum that can clog your hair and make it feel heavy and maybe more greasey then you would like it to be. Its fine on my hair as my hair gets very dry although sometimes it is too much on my hair so I use Carrot oil, which is more light. I also apply the grease to the ends of my hair in sections. This is important to keep your ends moisturized as well as the scalp.
Step 2: put hair into bun and wrap hair up for when you sleep. You dont have to but I've found this keeps in the moisture and my hair is more bouncey the next day.
Step 3: In the morning wet hair. Comb through hair with fingers and dont use a comb. Then put some deep conditioner in your hair make sure theres some on the roots and the ends and also through the hair. Although do not put too much on. For me I just leave it in as I dont have time to wait and hour and wash it out. (I dont condition or wet my hair every day, just every other day)
Step 4: I then let my hair dry its good to wait till its dried a lot. Before it dries I put some leave in conditioner in my hair. Sometimes I dont have time so usually its quite damp when I go onto the next stage.
Step 5: I put my hair in a high bun and slick it back with sof n'free stlying gel. Then I'm ready to go..
This may not work for everyone but it works for me and keeps my hair from drying out. I used to think my hair would never have curls in it and it was just frizzy. However if you find the right products and right regime black peoples hair is soft, duable easy to maintain and looks good.
Been absent.
Sorry for the delay with my blog. I was hoping to be on track with this every other day until I went back to university and the essays have started to pour in! However my hair is back on track. I wanted to change it up a bit so I straightened it over the last 2 weeks of my xmas hols.
I was supposed to get it trimmed but I was very broke after christmas so I trimmed it myself. There was hair at different lengths all over the place. It definitely felt fuller after I cut it and had it curly again. When I first had it curly it was wispy and it just seems dry with all the straightening. Well I used Shea butter and olive oil in my hair at night and wet it in the morning, using the conditioner and and my bouncy curls were back.
I am putting my hair in protective buns and greasing my hair at night and every other day using deep conditioner - not washing it out. This works best for me. But then when the products seem to be getting heavy on my hair I use a lighter moisturizer for my hair - carrot oil. However this doesnt seem to do much if I just use this on its own.
(Hair taken just now. Protective hair style I wear every day nowadays)

Products..
Today: Black and White Hair Wax.
£3.49 (London Stratford Shop, East Ldn)
Most people would have used this one time or another for various reasons but usually for styluing, and as it states for 'Long-Hold Control'.
Good- Keeps hair in place, makes hair look and feel straighter
Bad- can make hair look greasy and flatten hair.
I swear by this product when my hair is straight. It keeps my hair in place however it can make my hair look stiff and greasy. I find is works best when I'm straightening my hair, I put a little bit on my fingers and apply to the roots and straight down the ends. Then I comb through whilst straightening. It makes my hair looks like its been relaxed, although maybe a bit too much so I reccomend using this when straightening the night before, then you wont have such a flat (just relaxed) look. Sleep with a scarf on though, and the next day it show feel like you have more body and its smoother.

Holla.
Hey everyone I'm Lissyia, I've found the internet a great place to share advice and tips on how to look after afro Caribbean and African hair. As most black women know, its hard to know what the right products to use and what regimes are the best. Straight up, its different for everyone but the key thing to do is to gain a collection of knowledge and try it out for yourself. What I want to do with my blog is to share the regimes and products I've used for my hair and also my experiences.
We're all blessed with lovely hair, curly, straight, frizzy, thick. And we go a little while not letting a lick of unnatural substances touch it. However for most our natural hair is just difficult to understand how to look after. For me I decided to relax my hair when I was 16/17. My hair was particulary tough to handle, I just didnt know what to do with it and I didnt really know what I was just about to do to my hair. Several years down the line and after my 1st year of uni I decided that my hair didnt feel right. It was so much shorter and thinner and lank, so I thought this is it. And I stopped relaxing my hair.
A month or so into transitioning..
Hair in braids (Transitioning style)
When the last bit of relxer was cut off...
Hair Jan '11 (straight-ish)
Hair Nov '10 Natural
The year following I was transitiong, and I had two textures in my hair, It looked bad. So I weaved it (badly) twice, and braided twice. Until it was summer 2009. and thats when the last bit of relaxer came out. Now I'm into my 2nd year of being natural.
So thats my hair background. My own ethnic background is Jamaican although I was born in England, London Essex. I do have a mix in my family as many Jamaicans do and my hair does tend to grow quite fast which might be a throw bak from my great grandads chinese origin. Other then that I'm a British Caribbean young woman trying to figure out how best to look after my hair.
Hope you enjoy reading this blog and I hope I can help others as I've been helped along the way. I've tried numerous products and yes I've spent a fortune. So I will be reviewing those and also recording my progress.
